May 2020 Ternate City experienced inflation of 0.89 percent

Abstract

In May 2020, the city of Ternate experienced inflation of 0.89 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.79. Out of 90 CPI cities, 67 cities experienced inflation and 23 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan City by 1.20 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Madiun City and Tanjung Pinang City by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Luwuk City by 0.39 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Manado City by 0.01 percent.
The calendar year inflation rate in May 2020 (May 2020 against December 2019) was 1.88 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2020 against May 2019) was 2.01 percent.
In May 2020, Ternate experienced inflation in four expenditure groups, deflation in two expenditure groups and five expenditure groups were stagnant. The groups that experienced inflation were the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.08 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.53 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.07 percent; transportation group of 8.21 percent. The deflation group was information and communication, and financial services by 0.01 and the personal care and other services group by 0.26 percent. Meanwhile, housing, water, electricity and other fuels; health group; recreation, sports and culture groups; education groups and food and beverage / restaurant supply groups are stagnant.
