Abstract

In January 2021, Ternate City experienced deflation of 0.51 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.51. Of the 90 CPI cities, 75 experienced inflation and 15 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Mamuju City at 1.43 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Ambon City and Balikpapan with 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Bau-Bau City with 0.92 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Pontianak City at 0.01 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year January 2021 (January 2021 against December 2020) is -0.51 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2021 against January 2020) is 1.27 percent.

In January 2021, Ternate City experienced stagnant inflation in two expenditure groups, deflation in three expenditure groups and six expenditure groups. Groups that experienced inflation were the Food, Beverage and Tobacco group at 0.03 percent; and the Personal Care and Other Services group of 0.23 percent. The group that experienced deflation were the Clothing and Footwear group at 0.01 percent; the Health group by 0.02 percent; and the Transportation group of 4.91 percent. While the Housing, Water, Electricity and Household Fuels group; Household Equipment, Equipment and Routine Care Group; Information, Communication and Financial Services group; Recreation, Sports and Culture group; Education group; and the Food and Beverage / Restaurant Providers group did not experience a change in index (stagnant).
