Abstract

The number of the workforce based on the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in August 2024 was 689.24 thousand people, an increase of 25.9 thousand people compared to August 2023 (663.29 thousand people).
The working population in North Maluku in August 2024 was recorded at 661.49 thousand people. This number increased by 26.8 thousand people compared to August 2023 (634.70 thousand people).
  • The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) in August 2024 increased by 1.36 percentage points to 69.13 compared to the TPAK in August 2023 (67.77 percent).
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2024 was recorded at 4.03 percent, down by 0.28 percentage points compared to the TPT in August 2023 (4.31 percent).
  • The proportion of workers who are informal workers is 64.76 percent, while 35.24 percent are formal workers. The distribution of workers according to the main field of work is dominated by residents working in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries sectors, which is 25.62 percent. The business field that experienced the largest increase was Wholesale and Retail Trade by 10.19 thousand people.
